Sweden Dynamics Awarded Vinnova Funding to Develop Autonomous Drone Swarm

Sweden Dynamics has been granted funding from Vinnova to advance the company’s Aurora Swarm project, a system concept for AI-controlled drone swarms.

Through radical innovation in drone technology, the Vinnova project aims to develop capabilities where drones can collectively solve complex tasks and contribute to a safer society.

Sweden Dynamics is among the companies now receiving funding to enhance this capability. The project — named Aurora Swarm — aims to strengthen Sweden’s operational capacity by creating autonomous drone systems with a high degree of robustness, cooperation, and resilience against interference.

With this project, Sweden Dynamics takes a significant step toward enabling tactical advantages through autonomous drone swarms, supporting areas such as situational awareness and information-sharing in complex operational environments.

“We are very pleased with Vinnova’s confidence in us to develop Aurora Swarm. Our combination of extensive experience as a military end user and strong technical expertise gives us an excellent foundation for this mission,” says Martin Helmersson, CTO.

Sweden Dynamics now looks forward to deepening its collaboration with partners within the Swedish Armed Forces, the defense industry, and the research community to ensure that the systems meet operational needs in a rapidly changing security environment.
